Peabody Essex Museum Appoints New CFO
SALEM, MA –– The Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Anne Munsch to the post of Chief Financial Officer.
Munsch comes to PEM from the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA), where she served as Chief Financial Officer, and in other executive leadership capacities, for more than 12 years. Her tenure at IMA spanned an important period in the museum’s history, overseeing institutional accounting for the administrations of four museum directors. Munsch managed all aspects of IMA’s financial growth, presiding over an operating budget which more than doubled during her employ, as well as a $220 million capital campaign and facilities expansion.
“Anne Munsch has a well-deserved reputation as an extremely capable leader, and we anticipate that she will bring to PEM abundant financial acumen, wise counsel and a comprehensive understanding of the challenges facing major art museums,” said Joshua Basseches, Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Peabody Essex Museum.
Munsch has also served as Controller for the United States Rowing Association, where she was responsible for all accounting and finance functions. Among her accomplishments, she completed the first ever audit by the United States Olympic Committee, receiving an exemplary report. She has earned degrees from Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, France, and Indiana University as well as certification in Strategies of Nonprofit Management from The University of Chicago.
