Museum of American Finance Launches Free Scavenger Hunt Program
On Saturday, February 6, the Museum will initiate a new weekly program for students and their families. On “Scavenger Hunt Saturdays,” students of all ages will be admitted to the Museum free of charge,* and will be encouraged to experience the Museum’s exhibits through two different scavenger hunts, which may be downloaded in advance from the Museum’s website (www.moaf.org/education/materials) or obtained upon entering the Museum.
The scavenger hunts are supplementary educational materials designed to engage students and younger visitors in the Museum’s objects and themes. They encourage visitors to find objects in the Museum’s exhibits through clues and images and to learn from those objects by answering questions that illuminate important and interesting concepts about the history of finance.
The scavenger hunt designed for middle school students uses images to engage visual learners and lead them to the section of the Museum that will answer the questions, while the high school scavenger hunt uses clues to challenge older students.
Adults accompanying scavenger hunt participants will be admitted to the Museum at a discounted rate of $5 per person. All students who complete the hunt will be awarded a small prize, and will be entered in a monthly drawing to win a $50 prize package from the Museum Shop and a one-year family membership in the Museum.
