The Art and Magic of Ireland Calls to The Katonah Museum of Art

From ancient castles to contemporary art museums Ireland is a land of mystical lore, majestic landscapes and magnificent art. The Katonah Museum of Art (www.katonahmuseum.org) invites you to join them April 8-17 for a journey to the land of dreams and stories where you will visit private homes, centuries-old castles, and fine art galleries featuring local and international work.

Ireland is all about the people and guests will have the opportunity to meet and share meals with the artists who are carrying on the traditions of the Emerald Isle, transforming it into one of the most exciting contemporary art scenes in the world. • Dunsany Castle, home of the distinguished Brazilian architect Lady Dunsany who has filled her home with a treasure trove of art from the 13th to 20th centuries.
• The finest galleries of Dublin, including the Kerlin Gallery, the Rubicon, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Hugh Lane Gallery
• The historic Abbey Theatre for a live performance
• The town of Carlow, home to VISUAL, the exciting new art space that presents a balanced mixture of local, national, and international artists, along with some unique mixed- use spaces
• The town of Kilkenny for a visit to the Butler Art Gallery and lunch at Shankill Castle with Elizabeth Cope, a talented painter of still lifes, landscapes, portraits and other decorative works.
• The Hunt Museum, home to the extensive personal collection of John Hunt, Sotheby’s medieval art expert in the 1950s.
• Newgrange, the amazing example of prehistoric building and megalithic art
• Beaulieu House at Drogheda, the earliest undefended house in Ireland and still in the family of the builder’s descendants
• The Museum of Style at Newbridge
