The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has unveiled plans for a comprehensive redesign of the four-block-long outdoor plaza that runs in front of its landmark Fifth Avenue façade, from 80th to 84th Streets in Manhattan. GETTY MUSEUM HOSTS ANNUAL COLLEGE NIGHT

LOS ANGELES – The Getty Museum will host its annual College Night onWednesday, April 7, 2010, from 6:30-9:30 p.m.at the Getty Center. Local college students are invited for a night of free art, music, food, and live performances.

The evening will include an exclusive tour ofA Record of Emotion: The Photographs of Frederick H. Evanswith exhibition curator Anne Lyden. Students are also invited to meet the artist Soo Kim, whose panoramic photographs of Reykjavík, Iceland, are included inUrban Panoramas: Opie, Liao, Kim. In addition, a special chef guest speaker will be in the galleries speaking about the aesthetics of food in conjunction with the exhibition,In Focus: Tasteful Pictures.Students will also have the opportunity to see the landmark exhibitionLeonardo da Vinci and the Art of Sculpture: Inspiration and Invention.

Throughout the night, contortionists from Kinetic Theory Theatre will perform throughout the Museum courtyard. Other entertainment highlights include: a live band and DJ, a photo booth, and carnival- themed food stations. Information tables from a variety of local arts organizations will also be available.

Students will receive a free raffle ticket at check-in for a drawing that will include items from the Getty Museum store, as well as other fun surprises. Food and non-alcoholic drinks are complimentary, and a cash bar is available for the purchase of beer and wine (with ID).
Admission and parking are free but reservations are encouraged. Students will be asked to present a college ID upon arrival.
