Herbert Art Gallery & Museum Named as Best Family Friendly Museum in Britain
The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum in Coventry is officially the most family friendly museum in Britain.
At a ceremony in London, Herbert chief executive Ludo Keston picked up the award, beating a shortlist that included the Great North Museum, in Newcastle, the National Trust’s Beningbrough Hall and Gardens, in York, the Highland Folk Museum, in Newtonmore, the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, in Stoke, and the St Nicholas Priory, in Exeter. Marking the Herbert out as one that offers the very best family friendly environments, events, collection displays and accessibility for children.
The city centre museum and art gallery beat off competition from hundreds of other nominated museums to scoop the prize.
The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum celebrates its 50th birthday this year.
