Chemical Incident at The Science Museum

The Science Museum in London is to open as normal on Friday 21 May, following an evacuation on 20 May 2010, due to a chemical incident.

Three staff members were taken to hospital and a total of 22 staff members and contractors were checked after complaining of itchy eyes and sore throats.

A Science Museum spokeswoman said: “The Science Museum has been evacuated following a suspected chemical incident and will be closed for the remainder of Thursday. No visitors have been affected by the incident.

“Three have been taken to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital due to pre-existing health conditions. The Science Museum is working closely with the London Fire Brigade, the Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service to assess the next steps.”

“No visitors have been affected by the incident.”
