Paintings Stolen From Museum of Modern Art in Paris
Paintings worth an estimated 150million euros have been stolen from the Museum of Modern Art in Paris.
They are believed to have been taken overnight on Wednesday, 19th May, from the museum near the River Seine, the theft was discovered between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m this Thursday morning.

The five missing paintings are reported to be Pigeon with Peas by Pablo Picasso, Pastoral by Henri Matisse, Olive Tree near Estaque by Georges Braque, Woman with a Fan by Amedeo Modigliani and Still Life with Chandeliers by Fernand Leger.
“I am saddened and shocked by this theft, which is an intolerable assault on Paris’s universal cultural heritage,” Mayor Bertrand Delanoe said in statement posted on the city’s website. He pledged the city administration’s support for the police and museum in attempts to recover the paintings.
Delanoe said the museum was closed to allow the police investigation to proceed unhindered.
