Harry Ahn Retrospective Exhibit Attracts Record Attendance at The Buchanan Museum of Fine Art
Buchanan Michigan museum’s signature retrospective exhibition of internationally known artist Harry Ahn shatters prior attendance records with viewings by thousands of people.
The Buchanan Museum of Fine Art opened its May 29th Retrospective featuring the works of International realist artist Harry Ahn which generated record museum attendance and exhibit viewing.
As the 2010 Grand Prize winner at the Oil Painters of America National Exhibition and recipient of 2010 First Place Members Award in Sketch, sponsored by the Portrait Society of America, Ahn’s works continue to draw increasing levels of public attention with critically acclaimed works of portraiture and genre studies.
“If ever there was an artist who illustrates true success in the fine arts, it’s Harry Ahn”, says Jeffrey Antisdel, Managing Director of the Buchanan Museum of Fine Art. “When we opened the Ahn Retrospective, we were amazed at the number students of Ahn’s work who arrived, many themselves from all walks of life, some being art educators and museum professionals, with many who traveled great distances to continue learning from, and about, a truly remarkable artist. Indeed, many patrons returned multiple times to view these incredible works of art.”
Antisdel added, “It is clear that an early childhood as a homeless Korean refugee had a profound effect on Ahn’s perspective and inspirations in the creation of many of his finest works of art. There’s an inherent sense of humility and truth that resonate within his works, many capturing people and places that tell a story all their own. Ahn’s life work represents a true, one-of-a-kind signature style that’s resonates with people from all walks of life. We are incredibly pleased to host this Retrospective, it’s been wonderful for the museum, and for City of Buchanan as well.”

About the Buchanan Museum of Fine Art
Recognized as Southwestern Michigan’s largest public art museum, the Buchanan Museum of Fine Art is focused exclusively on the conservation, preservation and exhibition of historic works of American and European art. Underwritten by private investment and the volunteer efforts of prominent citizens Southwestern Michigan, the Buchanan Museum Collection is housed in the nationally recognized Collins & Weaver Opera House (circa 1867).
