National Media Museum to Host UK Gaming Championships

This weekend the National Media Museum will be hosting the UK Qualifier for the Electronic Sports World Cup 2010.

Videogamers will be playing FIFA10 and Quake Live in the Museum’s Games Lounge before a final playoff using state-of-the-art facilities in Pictureville Cinema.

The winners of the UK Qualifiers in both games will go on to represent their country at the Grand Finals in Disneyland, Paris, for the title of world champion and a share of the $213,500 prize pot.
Jaffer Mir, managing director of official organisers, Leeds-based Game Frontier said: “We are delighted to be able to bring the national qualifiers of the ESWC to Bradford and the National Media Museum is an ideal venue for us.

“I look forward to watching the skills and fierce competition from all the hopefuls looking to win a place to represent the UK.”

Player registration for the event is via the tournament website where the tournament rules and eligibility requirements are detailed. Entry to the FIFA10 and Quake Live tournaments is free though players must be registered for the event in advance.

Matches begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday 19 June. The Quake Live event will be played to completion on 19 June. FIFA10 tournament matches will be played from 19 June to completion on Sunday 20 June.

The Electronic Sports World Cup National Qualifiers for the United Kingdom are supported by the National Media Museum, Destination Bradford and Conference Leeds.
