The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has unveiled plans for a comprehensive redesign of the four-block-long outdoor plaza that runs in front of its landmark Fifth Avenue façade, from 80th to 84th Streets in Manhattan. Extreme Engineering: California State Water Project Exhibition at the California Museum

This hands-on, interactive exhibit open at The California Museum through through July 17, 2011, explores the complexities of water in California.

Visitors will discover the world’s largest manmade water system and the people behind its creation, and be challenged to actively consider the choices facing policy makers today.

A big-screen flyover will take them from the nation’s tallest dam to its longest aqueduct, while artifacts and interviews reveal how the California Water Project – celebrating its 50th birthday in 2010 – changed the way we live in the Golden State
