CBMM’s Lesher to speak at National Maritime Heritage Conference

Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s (CBMM) Chief Curator Pete Lesher will be participating as a panelist at the 9th National Maritime Heritage Conference, to be held in Baltimore September 15–19.

The focus of the conference is “The Maritime Nexus: Re-connecting Landsmen with Their Seagoing Heritage.” The conference is sponsored by the National Maritime Historical Society, Naval Historical Foundation, Historic Ships of Baltimore and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.
 
As part of the “Small Craft II Panel,” Lesher will present “Yankee Skiffs: From New York to the Chesapeake.” Other panelists include Paul Fontenoy, PhD, curator of maritime research & technology, North Carolina Museum, and Hans Van Tilburg, PhD, NOAA Office of National Marine Sanctuaries Pacific Island Region (HI). The panel will be moderated by Joseph F. Meany, Jr., PhD, State Historian of New York Emeritus. For more information, visit www.seahistory.org
