The Cavanaugh Flight Museum, a non-profit organization dedicated to American aviation heritage, today announced that a 10,000 square foot aircraft hangar is open for event rental.
On November 6, the museum will house the 8th Annual WineFest, an event that features a selection of Texas wines and top notch cuisine as well as fine cigars. Tickets can be purchased online at www.winefest500.com.
“This is a space like no other,” said Gil Geddes, the museum’s director of events. “Where else can you dance, mingle and even enjoy fine food and wine in the company of real antique aircrafts?” The space is available for almost any kind of event ranging from birthday parties to wedding receptions to corporate events. “The sky is the limit,” said Geddes.
Although the hangar can play host to groups of up to 800, any size party is welcome. “We reconfigure the hangar for each group that comes in,” said Geddes. And with 10,000 square feet of room, it has a dance floor like no other. “It’s a really great space for dancing. The floor is painted and we keep it immaculate.”
Guests can also enjoy the rest of the Cavanaugh Flight Museum while the party is going. The museum boasts an extensive variety of aircraft, artwork, artifacts, armor and vehicles. Visitors can even get a firsthand peep beneath the skin of famous aircraft in the museum’s maintenance facility, including the Sopwith Camel, P-51 Mustang and German Me-109.
Since many of the aircrafts are still in use for air shows and even rides, visitors can even chat up the mechanics who keep the planes in flight. “Seeing older birds like this soar through the air is a real treat,” said Geddes. “Getting this close to history is a rare opportunity, and we’re thrilled to be able to give visitors a unique event experience at the museum.”
About Cavanaugh Flight Museum:
Cavanaugh Flight Museum was founded in 1993 by entrepreneur Jim Cavanaugh, who donated his growing collection of aircraft in the museum. The quality and airworthy condition of the crafts set the museum apart from others from the beginning. Many museum aircraft continue to fly on a regular basis, and the maintenance facility lets visitors see beneath the airplane’s skin and get to know the real mechanics who keep these magnificent birds flying. .
