Museum of Photographic Arts Opens New Realities: Jerry Uelsmann + Maggie Taylor

October 2, 2010 – 9:57 amNo Comment

Museum of Photographic Arts Opens New Realities: Jerry Uelsmann + Maggie Taylor, open October 2, 2010 – January 30, 2011.

New Realities is a 60 image exhibition that allows viewers to compare and contrast the notable yet nuanced differences between two pioneers of photomontage, the process of combining multiple images to form a cohesive whole. The differences in process are especially striking, as Maggie Taylor’s color work is created with a flatbed scanner and a computer, while Jerry Uelsmann uses a pure analog approach to craft his work.

New Realities is presented by ResMed, with support from the County of San Diego Community Enhancement Fund & the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture.

The Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego mounts eight to ten major exhibitions per year that represent the history of the medium, contemporary works, photojournalism, and varied photographic processes.
