The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow has extended The River Runs Through It exhibition.

Riverside Construction (detail) by Charles Jamieson, MFA PAI PPAI

Last year, a number of artists were invited to visit the construction site of Glasgow’s iconic new transport museum, the Riverside Museum, which was designed by internationally-renowned architect Zaha Hadid, who recently won the RIBA Stirling Prize for the MAXXI Museum in Rome.

Each artist was asked to respond to the building and the wider notion of Glasgow’s rich industrial heritage, to which the River Clyde is central. The range of completed work presents an intensely varied, yet inspired vision by 28 very different artists, including Peter Howson and Adrian Wiszniewski.

Supporting the works on show will be a series of short texts from leading figures in Scottish arts and culture, including Rab C Nesbitt creator, Ian Pattison, and Blue Nile musician, Paul Buchanan.
