Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) Seeks Director of Preservation Services and Director of Book Conservation

Founded in 1973, the Northeast Document Conservation Center is a nonprofit, regional conservation center specializing in the preservation of paper-based materials.

NEDCC’s mission is to improve the conservation efforts of libraries, archives, historical organizations, museums, and other repositories; to provide the highest quality services to institutions that lack in-house conservation facilities or those that seek specialized expertise; and to provide leadership in the preservation and conservation fields. Its services include book, paper, and photograph conservation; digital reformatting; surveys and consultations; disaster assistance; and workshops, webinars, and conferences. NEDCC is located in a renovated historic mill building in Andover, Mass., twenty-five miles north of Boston.

Director of Preservation Services
The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) is seeking an experienced preservation professional to lead and manage its nationally-recognized education programs and consulting services. The director of preservation services designs ground-breaking projects and programs, develops budgets and writes grant narratives, manages a staff of consultants, serves as NEDCC’s digital preservation consultant, teaches and lectures on a variety of preservation topics, and works closely with NEDCC’s marketing and public relations manager to reach a national audience. Although the director of preservation services reports to the executive director, he/she has individual responsibility for the performance of his/her own department and frequently represents NEDCC at professional conferences.

Director of Book Conservation
The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) is seeking an experienced conservation professional to lead its book conservation laboratory. The Director of Book Conservation leads and manages a staff of professional book conservators, confers with clients to evaluate their collections and develop appropriate treatment proposals, and works closely with the Center’s other department heads on joint projects. Although the Director of Book Conservation is a member of NEDCC’s senior management team, she/he has individual responsibility for the performance of her/his own department. The Director of Book Conservation reports directly to the executive director.
