Kemp Auto Museum To Host Third Annual All Austin-Healey Show

CHESTERFIELD, Missouri – The Kemp Auto Museum is proud to have been selected again by the Gateway Austin-Healey Club to host the Third Annual “All Austin-Healey” Show from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 15, 2011.

Austin-Healey automobiles from various Midwestern collectors will be displayed at the “All Austin-Healey” Show on the Kemp Auto Museum’s outdoor Sachs Plaza, with cars and collectors participating from across Missouri, as well as from nearby states.

Austin-Healeys were the popular British sports cars which thousands of red-blooded automobile enthusiasts aspired to own (and still do). They had plenty of performance, exquisite styling, immense charisma and a first-class competition pedigree. Known for their dominance in European rallies and circuit racing in the 1950’s and 60’s, quite a few of the cars that were exported to the United States found themselves successfully racing in SCCA events in the 1970’s and are still very competitive today. Eighty-three percent of the total production of 14,614 four-cylinder cars and 51,317 six-cylinder cars were shipped to the United States.

Austin-Healeys have a strong club following through the Austin-Healey Club of America (AHCA) and have increased significantly in value over the years. Shane Thompson, President of the Gateway Chapter of AHCA, commented about his 1962 six cylinder model: “I know I’ve got something special, when every time I walk through my garage and see that car sitting there, I start to smile.”

Executive Director Rodger Van Ness comments, “The Museum is quite pleased to be the venue selected by the Gateway Austin-Healey Club for this event, as many feel the Austin-Healey is one of the most beautiful sports cars to come out of England.”

Kemp Auto Museum’s Van Ness adds, “We are excited to host yet another outstanding example of classic automobiles and welcome the local St. Louis Austin-Healey enthusiasts as well as the Midwest collectors.”

The “All Austin-Healey” Show is FREE to the public, and food and beverages will be available for purchase during the car show.
