Brevard Art Museum Presents Elements of Nature Selections from the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation

April 20, 2011 – 1:00 pmNo Comment

The Brevard Art Museum in Melbourne, Florida presents Elements of Nature: Selections from the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation on view through June 19.

The ancients believed that the world consisted of four elements: earth, air, fire, and water. Although they have been replaced by modern scientific elements, these four essential states have continued to inspire artists.

The exhibition, curated by foundation director Billie Milam Weisman, gathers together works of art that reflect on how the four elements continue to have meaning in our lives.

The Brevard Museum of Art enhances and enriches the quality of life of the community and its visitors with an enduring appreciation of art through exhibitions, collections and educational programs which enlighten and inspire the human creative spirit.

The Brevard Art Museum’s permanent collection is comprised of five categories: Modern and Contemporary Art, The Conill Mendoza Collection of American Industrial Design, Asian Art, Cultural Education Collection and Women Artists. Our primary focus is on women artists.
