The Walker Art Center presents In Context: Terrence Malick, May 13-May 21. On June 1, the area premiere of Terrence Malick’s heavily anticipated new film, The Tree of Life, follows this rare retrospective of the extraordinary filmmaker’s work.

The Tree of Life, stars Brad Pitt and Sean Penn as father and son (though the two will not share the screen). Summit’s synopsis describes it as “the tale of a Texas boy’s journey from the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as a ‘lost soul in the modern world’, and his quest to regain meaning in life”.
