Kemp Auto Museum Collection Mercedes-Benz Wins Award At Kansas City Art Institute’s 2011 “Art of the Car” Concours
CHESTERFIELD, Missouri – The Kemp Auto Museum’s award-winning 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SC Coupe received accolades at the recent Fifth Annual Kansas City Art Institute “Art of the Car” ConcoursTM, held in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday, June 26, 2011.
The Mercedes-Benz Dealers of Kansas City and Aristocrat Motors bestowed the Kemp Auto Museum with the “Best of Mercedes” Award for the Museum’s 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SC Coupe.
The Art of the Car Concours™, a benefit for student scholarships at the Kansas City Art Institute, is the largest vintage car show in Kansas City. It featured a wide variety of vintage, classic and special interest vehicles belonging to Kansas City area and national collectors. The KCAI “Art of the Car” show featured nearly 200 vintage, classic and special-interest vehicles, including cars, trucks, racing cars and vintage motorcycles belonging to collectors from eight states.
This recognition by the Kansas City Art Institute’s “Art of the Car” Committee and the Mercedes-Benz Dealers of Kansas City is one of multiple awards received by the Kemp Auto Museum at national Concours events over the past six years.
According to Executive Director Rodger Van Ness, “With 2011 being the 125th Anniversary of Mercedes-Benz, it was fitting that our 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SC Coupe was recognized by the Mercedes-Benz Dealers of Kansas City and Aristocrat Motors.”
Van Ness adds, “The Kemp Auto Museum is thrilled to have had so many recent opportunities to showcase the Museum’s classic collection of Mercedes-Benz automobiles.”
