The Field Museum has used a CT Scanner Provided by Genesis Medical Imaging to scan mummies in the museum’s collection.

At least one Egyptian mummy is only partly there as its torso and arms are missing. One Peruvian mummy was buried with a pot that has scientists wondering what it contained.

Field Museum researchers are using modern computed tomography X-rays to make images of mummies and other objects to provide new information about some of the oldest specimens in the Museum’s collections.
