Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego Announces See / Saw: Annual Youth Exhibition

The Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego presents See/Saw: Annual Youth Exhibition an annual juried exhibition of photography and film produced by talented young artists. Open October 15, 2011 – February 5, 2012.

The exhibition represents the most creative and original works of art that result from MOPA’s in-depth educational programming that serves tens of thousands of children each year.

This year’s youth exhibition will feature an exciting new extension to MOPA’s educational reach. In January 2011, MOPA partnered with Sanjhi, an NGO based in Udaipur, India, that uses photography and new media to empower teens to explore and communicate about environmental issues in their communities. MOPA staff and two other professional photographers taught a weeklong workshop on visual storytelling in rural India to twenty Indian teens. The powerful work produced from these workshops will be part of See/Saw, giving it a vibrant diversity of imagery and cross-cultural dimension that reflect the changing world around us.
