November 23, 2011 – 8:27 amNo Comment

KMSKA presentsThe MODERNS. Art from the Netherlands an exhibition on view 28 January 2012 – 19 August 2012.

The exhibition The MODERNS. Art from the Netherlands – the second in a series highlighting KMSKA’s collection of modern art – showcases fifty paintings, watercolours and drawings from the museum’s holdings. Together, they tell a story of modern art in the Netherlands from 1850 to the present day. They also paint a picture of the artistic relationships that connect the Netherlands and Belgium. The exhibition further explains how KMSKA’s collection of Dutch modern art came to be. Art from the Netherlands features work by, among others, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, George Hendrik Breitner, Vincent Van Gogh, Carel Willink and Karel Appel. Separately and collectively, the items displayed testify to the quality and richness of Dutch art of the 19th and 20th centuries. – www.kmska.be
