Christmas Events at the National Museum of Ireland

The National Museums of Ireland have a wealth of wonderful exhibitions and events happening across three sites in Dublin and its site in Castelbar, Co Mayo over the festive period that would make for a fun day out for all the family. The three sites in Dublin are: Decorative Arts & History at Collins Barracks, D7 Archaeology at Kildare Street, D2 and Natural History at Merrion Street, D2. In Castelbar why not visit Country Life, Turlough Park.

Just some of the events taking place include:

Christmas Open Day at Collins Barracks: Christmas starts at Collins Barracks on Saturday, December 3 with carol-singing and a festive art and craft workshop for all the family. Explore the Museum with the 12 Days of Christmas Trail or the Angel Trail.

A Medieval Christmas Fair at Kildare Street: Experience the magical smells, tastes and sights of a Medieval Christmas with Irish Arms on Sunday, December 4. Meet market sellers, a candle-maker and a scriptor monk. Try Medieval armour on for size and taste Hyprocras spiced wines and Grete Pye and other by-gone Christmas fare.

My Museum: The Christmas Turkey and Other Stories at Collins Barracks: Step out of the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and drop into the Museum to hear one of Ireland’s favourite storytellers, Niall de Búrca tell the story of Michael, his mammy and the Christmas Turkey and other wonderful festive tales on Sunday, December 18.
