The Farnsworth Art Museum Presents Beyond Rugs! an exhibition on view February 05, 2012 in the Crosman Gallery.

The second textile show at the Farnsworth to feature the technique of rug hooking, Beyond Rugs!, curated by Mildred Cole Peladeau and Farnsworth Assistant Curator Jane Bianco, will examine the art of hooking in recent times. A design by the innovative modernist, Marguerite Zorach, will introduce selections of artists from throughout the country who set the pace today with hook and fiber.

The Farnsworth Art Museum celebrates Maine’s ongoing role in American art. It offers a nationally recognized collection of works from many of America’s greatest artists, with 20,000 square feet of gallery space and over 10,000 works in the collection. The Farnsworth has one of the largest public collections of works by sculptor Louise Nevelson, while its Wyeth Center features works by N.C., Andrew and Jamie Wyeth. Its two National Register historic sites, the Farnsworth Homestead and the Olson House, and Julia’s Gallery for Young Artists complete the museum complex. – www.farnsworthmuseum.org
