The Dixon Gallery and Gardens in Memphis presents Selections from the Kattner Collection of American Painting on view Sunday, April 15, 2012.

Arthur Bowen Davies (American, 1863-1928) Madonna of the Hills, Oil on canvas, 17 ½ x 22 ½ inches. Collection of Dr. and Mrs. Keith Kattner

While the bulk of the Dixon’s permanent collection of painting and sculpture travels to Louisville, don’t miss the incredible examples of American art from the collection of Dr. and Mrs. Keith Kattner hanging in the residence. The works in the Kattner collection offer a wonderful survey of American painting, from the vast and majestic landscapes of Hudson River School artists William Sonntag, John Frederick Kensett, and Alfred Bricher to the Ashcan visions of William Glackens, Arthur Bowen Davies, and Reginald Marsh to the modernism of Manierre Dawson. There’s much to discover in this astounding collection, now on long-term loan to the Dixon.
