Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen presents La La La Human Steps at İstanbul Modern

The Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen presents La La La Human Steps at İstanbul Modern on 16 February–6 May 2012, a large exhibition of works from the collection of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.

Featuring works by artists who relate to the image of mankind historically, personally or socially. They focus on subjects like desire, curiosity, failure, despair, treachery and confrontation. Modern and contemporary art is featured, alongside old master paintings and prints, including a work by Joachim Patinir about Sodom and Gomorrah. The museum is exhibiting recently purchased work by Erik van Lieshout, John Bock, Andro Wekua, Guido van der Werve, Cyprien Gaillard and Aernout Mik, as well as unusual works by Bruce Nauman, Bas Jan Ader, and Vito Acconci.

İstanbul Museum of Modern Art is staging an exhibition in Rotterdam, featuring works from its own collection. Curated by the Chief Curator Levent Çalıkoğlu, the exhibition runs from 10 March to 10 June 2012. On 2 June an exhibition of new work by the Istanbul born artist Sarkis opens at the Submarine Wharf in Rotterdam harbour.

‘La La La Human Steps’ in Istanbul is supported by Fiba Banka. The exhibition is organised within the framework of the celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and Turkey. The exhibition catalogue ‘La La La Human Steps, A Selection from the Collection of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’ will be available at İstanbul Modern Store.
