Mizel Museum Second Annual Gathering Sparks Event

Mizel Museum’s second annual Gathering Sparks event will be held Sunday, November 11, 2012, 1:00 to 6:00 pm at Congregation Rodef Shalom, 450 S. Kearney St., Denver. The event celebrates the light of the winter season through visual art and music, featuring a mixed media performance by world-renowned photographer Zion Ozeri and contemporary Jewish musician Rabbi Joe Black. The performance will be preceded by a Holiday Art Market featuring art for sale by Mizel Museum member artists.

Attendees will also be able to tour Mizel Museum’s permanent exhibit, 4,000 Year Road Trip: Gathering Sparks, located just north of Rodef Shalom at 400 S. Kearney St., Denver. The exhibit is a dynamic journey through art, artifacts and digital media that narrates and celebrates Jewish history and culture.

Zion Ozeri’s photography explores the Jewish experience. In his photographs, Ozeri encounters Jewish communities scattered across the world and in them he finds a sense of home, familiar customs and shared experiences. Ozeri will serve as the museum’s November artist-in-residence, conducting a Salon Night on Thursday, November 8, 5:30 pm and The Art of Shabbat, a community Shabbat Dinner, on Friday, November 9, 4:15 pm, both events to be held at the Mizel Museum.
