The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum planned near Chichester has received initial support for a £4 million bid from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The museum has been awarded £250,000 to allow it develop a full set of detailed plans before applying for the full, multi-million pound grant in 2014.
The project would see the building of a new visitor centre and refectory as well as increasing educational visits.
The museum’s 45 exhibits include a medieval farmstead, a working watermill and a working Tudor kitchen.
