Area 51 Revealed in April 26 Lectures and Book Signings

Aviation writers, special tour of M/D-21 Blackbird spyplane

The realities of the Area 51 secret Air Force flight facility at Groom Lake, Nev. will be discussed during a day of lectures and book signings at the Museum on April 26. Presenters include Area 51 authors Peter Merlin and T.D. Barnes. Merlin is an aviation historian at NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center in California; Barnes is president of the Blackbird spyplane historical organization, Roadrunners Internationale, and is the author of several books about the A-12/SR-71 Blackbird programs at Area 51. The event also includes a special tour of the Museum’s Blackbird that was flown at Area 51. The program is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is free with admission to the Museum. The book signings will be free, and located in the Museum lobby.

10 to 11 a.m. – Book signing with author Peter Merlin.
11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Area 51 presentation by author Peter Merlin.
1:30 to 2 p.m. – Guided tour of the Museum’s M/D-21 Blackbird in the Great Gallery.
2:30 to 4 p.m. – Presentation by author T.D. Barnes, president of Roadrunners Internationale.
4 to 5 p.m. – Book signing with T.D. Barnes.

The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field half-way between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $19 for adults, $16 for seniors 65 and older, $16 for active military, $11 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5. Group rates are available. Admission on the first Thursday of the month is free from 5 to 9 p.m. courtesy of Wells Fargo. McCormick & Schmick’s Wings Café is on site.
