Cohen Recycling partnership to support Cincinnati Museum Center

Partnership will promote recycling and environmental awareness

CINCINNATI – Cincinnati Museum Center has partnered with Cohen Recycling to increase recycling awareness and education. Cohen’s partnership will help support environmental education programs in the Museum of Natural History & Science. Cohen and Cincinnati Museum Center plan to kick off their partnership on October 30, when the first “Next Generation Recycling” program will run in the Museum of Natural History & Science.

Recycling partnershipWith Cohen’s support, Cincinnati Museum Center has developed “Next Generation Recycling,” a program that will educate visitors about why we should recycle, what types of items are recyclable, what those items can become and how to recycle those items. The educational program will take place in the Museum of Natural History & Science but will also be portable so Cohen will have an opportunity to educate people about the benefits of recycling at various events around the community.
“Next Generation Recycling” will use a shadow box with different rooms of a home to demonstrate that there are recyclable items all over the house, not just the kitchen. During the program, children will be asked what items might be recycled from each room, after which they will lift a flap, looking inside at various items that can be recycled: laptop batteries, copper wire, aluminum cans and more. They’ll also learn the environmental impact of not recycling those items and what can be made using those recycled items.
Cohen Recycling is a family-owned metal recycling company, one of the largest in North America, leading the way in a new era of recycling. As we are inundated with rapidly outdated cell phones, computers and other electronics, precious elements are in high demand to make new and improved devices. Cohen is committed to helping people recycle metal and electronics that are often viewed as unrecyclable or difficult to recycle. After all, recycling is “Bigger Than the Bin.” Together, Cohen and Cincinnati Museum Center can educate people about the importance of recycling and the environmental benefits of doing so.
“We are very excited to be partnering with Cincinnati Museum Center,” says Cohen Recycling Sustainability Director Adam Dumes. “Education is part of our mission, as is supporting organizations that share our philosophies and values regarding environmental protection and awareness. Our vision is to enable individuals and businesses to recycle safely, responsibly and conveniently. This program is a perfect fit.”
“Thanks to Cohen’s generous support and outreach we now have a new community partner and educational information to show people how they can do something very simple that will have a tremendous impact on the future of Cincinnati and the world by recycling resources,” says Douglas McDonald, president and CEO at Cincinnati Museum Center.
