CINCINNATI – Do you know someone who spends their weekends planting neighborhood gardens? Or a child who collects books for classmates who may not have any? Maybe you know a business that provides resume workshops for high school students. Cincinnati Museum Center wants to honor them at our ninth annual Duke Energy Children’s Museum Difference Maker Awards. But you have to nominate them first!
The Difference Makers Awards recognizes those people who work to make a difference in the lives of children and the communities in which they grow, learn and play. We want to honor the unsung heroes – the grandmothers and foster parents, the volunteers and community organizations, the teenagers and budding child advocates – along with the businesses and professionals who make the Greater Cincinnati region a better place for children.
“This is an exciting opportunity to honor the people who humbly make a difference for children every day,” says Donna Zaring, marketing consultant and co-chair of the 2017 Difference Maker Awards. “Our mission is to honor those often unsung heroes and inspire the next generation of difference makers growing up within our communities.”
Past honorees were nominated for organizing a benefit concert to support Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center’s Surviving the Teens Program; helping pregnant and parenting teens to raise children while continuing to pursue their dreams; placing 3D printers in Boys and Girls Clubs across the country; and much more.
We are now accepting nominations in the following categories:
Youth – under 18 years of age
Adult Volunteer – unpaid individuals
Adult Professional – paid professional
Business – for-profit organization
Youth & School Group
We’re looking for widespread community help in identifying and nominating those heroes who share Duke Energy Children’s Museum’s focus to better the lives of children in our community.
Since the original Difference Makers event in 2008, CMC has recognized more than 300 incredible nominees!
Nominating someone is easy. Visit www.cincymuseum.org/difference-makers/nomination-form to find the nomination form and submit your nomination online. Help us share the deeds of these real life superheroes!
“There are incredible individuals and organizations throughout our community who are taking it upon themselves to build a brighter future for children right here in the Greater Cincinnati region,” says Elizabeth Pierce, president and CEO of Cincinnati Museum Center. “Our Duke Energy Children’s Museum is proud to have an impact on the lives of children but we can’t do it alone and we are humbled every year to meet and celebrate those in the community who share our passion for healthy childhood development.”
Nominees will be recognized for their hard work and dedication at the ninth annual Difference Makers Awards. During the event, we’ll share the nominees’ inspiring stories and celebrate the strides they’ve taken to better the lives of the children in the Greater Cincinnati region. Nominees will be able to meet their fellow Difference Makers during the family-friendly event and encourage others to become further engaged in their community.
