Set sail with Vikings climb through the treetops and save on Membership at Cincinnati Museum Center

| March 20, 2017

CINCINNATI – Spring Break is coming and Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) has your ticket for a trip you’re sure to tell your friends about. Travel back in time, sail across the seas to Scandinavia, crawl inside a giant mouth or climb through the treetops, all without leaving Cincinnati.

This Spring Break, you don’t need to board a plane or travel to the beach to get away. CMC is the staycation you need for a breather from the work grind, a weeklong recess from school or to reconnect as a family.

Board a longboat and sail across the seas to Scandinavia in the time of Vikings. Vikings: Beyond the Legend features over 500 original Viking artifacts from the Swedish History Museum including swords, axes, jewelry, tools and religious iconography demonstrating the blend between Norse mythology and Christianity. The exhibition also includes four ships: 27- and 21-foot reproductions of Viking merchant ships, a “Ghost Ship” consisting exclusively of the ships original iron rivets suspended where they once held together oak planks and the longest Viking ship ever discovered, the 122-foot Roskilde 6 , making its North American debut in Cincinnati. Go behind the beard to learn more about the people we call Vikings. But hurry, the myth-busting exhibition closes April 23.

The Duke Energy Children’s Museum offers a variety of adventures. Brush up on proper oral health by stepping inside a set of giant, anatomically-correct teeth ready for you to brush and floss in Inside the Grin. Or go on a hike through The Woods and climb through the treetops. Explore the powers and properties of water as you splash around the Water Works. And, opening March 27, KidSPACE, a new interactive gallery where you can play, create and explore science, art and more.

School may be out but Museum Camps are in. Whether your child is an aspiring archaeologist, a wizard in training or crazy about chemistry, there’s a camp for that. Museum Camps are available each week during Spring Break with a different theme each day. Each camp features interactive experiences that encourage your kids to get creative, solve challenges and go home with crafts to share and stories to tell. You can register for Spring Break Camps online and, if you’re hooked, sign up for Summer Museum Camps for even more of your favorite camp experiences.

There’s no better time to fall in love with Cincinnati Museum Center than Spring Break because if you buy a CMC Membership by April 17, you get two summers of fun for the price of one. Whether you’re a new Member or just looking to renew your existing Membership, your yearly Membership purchased during Spring Break will have an expiration date of September 30, 2018, giving you five free months of exclusive access to all CMC has to offer. Purchase online or at the CMC box office.
