Our neighborhood streets, houses, and businesses form a community. With inspiration from the buildings in your neighborhood, decorate three wooden blocks to create a sculpture of your own small community.

UMFA in the Wild | Make a Nature Rubbing Book

Join the UMFA in Utah’s amazing wilderness to experience art and nature. Learn about the variety of textures in nature and how artists represent them in paintings and drawings. Make your own book to classify and record rubbings of the natural textures around you.

UMFA in the Wild is presented in partnership with the National Forest Service and American Land and Leisure.

Join people of all backgrounds and ages as a UMFA volunteer. Learn more about current opportunities—including the upcoming Fall 2017 Docent Class—at these drop-in informational sessions.

Each hour-long session is located in the UMFA classroom.

Third Saturdays for Families | Chinese Fans

Chinese decorative arts are noted for their intricate patterns. Study the beautiful designs of Chinese cloisonné, made with enamel and wire, and create your own design on paper fans.

Mark your calendars: the last weekend of August is the first weekend of the new UMFA. The University’s fine arts museum, closed since mid-January 2016 for building upgrades, reopens the weekend of August 26-27, with a free two-day party featuring new exhibitions, tours, art making films, yoga, a dance party, and more.
