National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Recognized for Marketing Excellence

Cincinnati, OH – The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center has received recognition for achievement in marketing and advertising at the Ohio Travel Association’s RUBY Awards presentation, held Wednesday, November 1 in Akron, Ohio.

The Ohio Travel Association’s RUBY Awards recognize excellence in Ohio’s travel industry for efforts in advertising, marketing and public relations. RUBY Award stands for Recognizing Uncommon Brilliance (RUBY) Award. In in the $50,001-$200,000 marketing budget category, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center was awarded for Citation of Excellence for Newsletter; Ruby Award for Radio Advertisement, and Ruby Award for Promotional Video. Accepting the award was National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Assistant VP of Marketing & Communications, Jamie Glavic, and Group Sales Coordinator, Kelsey Fay.

“We are incredibly proud of the marketing and communications team”, says Susan Redman-Rengstorf, Vice President of Institution Advancement of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. “Under Jamie’s leadership we have increased attendance and membership, as well as excitement and innovation as it is reflected in receiving these prestigious awards.”

Competition was strong with more than 194 entries in print-based, web-based and marketing campaign, advertisement and video categories. The awards, sponsored by Ohio Magazine, were presented during the Ohio Conference on Travel, the state travel conference.

The Ohio Travel Association is the non-profit association representing attractions, destination marketing organizations, hotels, museums, suppliers, restaurants, campgrounds and other businesses who make up Ohio’s $43 billion travel industry.
