Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum announce special cruise, deck tours aboard Lady Maryland

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and the Living Classroom Foundation are inviting the public to climb aboard the pungy schooner Lady Maryland during her Oct. 21-25 stay in St. Michaels, Md.

On Sun., Oct. 21, you can step aboard Lady Maryland, with dockside tours offered from 1-2:30 pm. Dockside tours are free for CBMM members or with regular museum admission.

At 3:00 p.m., guests of all ages are invited to join in a two-hour sail, when passengers will be invited to help the crew raise and lower the sails, navigate the boat, and enjoy an afternoon sail along scenic Miles River.
Built in 1985 by the Living Classrooms Foundation, Lady Maryland is a replica of a Chesapeake Bay pungy schooner. Pungies were considered fast sailing vessels in the 1800s, and were primarily used as workboats carrying perishables. Lady Maryland is visiting St. Michaels as a part of her fall education travels, and will be serving local students Monday through Wednesday.

Dockside tours are free for CBMM members or with regular museum admission. Guests aboard the Oct. 21 cruise are invited to bring their own snacks and drinks, with glass strictly prohibited. At $20 per person, boarding passes are limited, with advanced registration needed at bit.ly/ladymdcruise18.

Proceeds from the Sunday afternoon cruise benefit the students served by the STEM-based educational programming of CBMM and the Living Classrooms Foundation.
