Museum of Flight announce A Weekend of Military Events for Veterans Day

SEATTLE – Sunday, Nov. 11, is the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1, and the Museum celebrates the day with patriotic music, ceremony, a special WWI lecture and free admission for U.S. veterans and active U.S. military.

The Museum will join thousands of other institutions across North America and Europe commemorating the 100th anniversary with a bell ringing event at 11 a.m. (#tollthebell), followed by a performance of patriotic music by the Boeing Employees Concert Band and a Veterans Day ceremony with keynote speaker Lt. Col. Ron Limes. At 2 p.m. Dr. Daniel Haulman of the Air Force Historical Research Agency will share his insights about combat aviation during the Great War, with a special focus on American fighter pilots.

Nov. 10 Military Programs at the Museum
Beauty and Duty: A Look at Women’s WWI Military Uniforms
At 2 p.m., Living History performer Alice Miller will show World War I women’s military uniforms, while telling stories about their history and the women who proudly wore them. Free with Museum admission.

Free film screening of “PAC 6 A General’s Decision”
Filmmaker Ray Sullivan will present a new documentary about his father, Brig. Gen. Glenn R. Sullivan, who became renowned for changing the tactics of the Linebacker II bombing operation during the Vietnam War. The film, directed by Barry Dycus, looks back at Sullivan’s decision that ultimately sacrificed his career. There will be a reception with refreshments at 5:30 p.m., the screening begins at 6:30. Admission is free, and Vietnam veterans are encouraged to attend.
