Dayton Art Institute announces Upcoming Events

The Dayton Art Institute (DAI) will launch a brand new series of pop-culture inspired parties in July, the Prime Time Party Rental Series, with an Olympics Opening Ceremonies Party on Friday, July 27, 7 – 11 p.m.

“Each of the parties celebrates popular cultural icons and also highlights related art in the museum’s permanent collection,” says DAI Executive Director Michael R. Roediger.

In addition to the Olympics party, the Prime Time Party Rental Series will feature a Superhero Costume Ball on August 17 and a James Bond Martini Bash on October 26.

Advance tickets for each party are priced at an affordable $20 per person for museum members and $25 for non-members. Tickets purchased at the door will cost $25 for members and $30 for non-members. The parties will include themed foods, a specialty cash bar, music, special art experiences, surprise guests, contests and more.

The series begins Friday, July 27, with the Olympics Opening Ceremonies Party. Celebrate the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games with the best opening ceremonies party in Dayton. It’s sure to be a “gold medal” night, full of English pub food, drinks, British music and fun, watching the opening of the Summer Games unfold.

In addition, a separate Prime Time Kids Time Party is available for moms and dads that want to party and need a fun sitter. The children’s party lasts from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m., and is limited to 15 children, ages four and older.

The cost for the Prime Time Kids Time Party is $15 for the first child, $10 for each additional child. Advance reservations are recommended, by calling 937-223-5277, ext. 111.

The Prime Time Party Rental Series continues on Friday, August 17, with a Superhero Costume Ball, held in conjunction with the special exhibition You Are My Superhero. The second Prime Time Party promises to deliver an evening of campy fun: attendees are invited to dress as their favorite superheroes, dance the Batusi as DJ Ruckus Roboticus mixes up superhero themes, and enjoy out-of-this-world food.

The third Prime Time Part Rental Series event will be a James Bond Martini Bash on Friday, October 26, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the film Dr. No, as well as the upcoming release of the newest Bond film, Skyfall. The evening will include specialty martinis (shaken, not stirred, of course), suave tunes, and some “top secret” surprises.

Advance tickets for the Prime Time Party Rental Series are on sale now and may be purchased online at www.daytonartinstitute.org/primetime. Tickets may also be purchased by calling 937-223-5277, ext. 111 or in person at the museum during regular hours.
