Colorado railroads helped unearth many fossils as railroad tracks were laid. Construction crews often exposed these unusual and fascinating bones as they were digging and laying railroad ties. A 48 feet long realistic replica of the world’s largest snake is on exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History until Jan. 6, 2013.
