Jazz Night at Michener Art Museum Features Acclaimed Eric Mintel Quartet

DOYLESTOWN, PA – The James A. Michener Art Museum presents an all-inclusive night of “straight ahead” jazz featuring the acclaimed Eric Mintel Quartet on Saturday, May 1 from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Held in the Museum’s Ann and Herman Silverman Pavilion and the adjoining sculpture garden tented for the affair, the event includes hors d’oeuvres and refreshments plus access to the galleries and the much-anticipated special exhibition Icons of Costume: Hollywood’s Golden Era and Beyond.

“We’re delighted to host pianist Eric Mintel, known for his unique style and original compositions,” says Zoriana Siokalo, Director of Programs at the Museum. “He will be joined by his quartet, considered one of the finest in the country, featuring Nelson Hill on alto sax, Dave Antonow on bass and Dave Mohn on drums for an energetic and entertaining evening of music.”

With Bucks County roots as a graduate of Pennridge High School in Perkasie and now living in Feasterville with his wife and daughter, Mintel connects with audiences around the country and throughout the world. The Eric Mintel Quartet has performed at such prestigious venues as The White House, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, as well as myriad national radio and television programs. According to noted musician Dave Brubeck, “As long as the music attracts dedicated young musicians like Eric Mintel, jazz will continue to thrive and progress as a voice of freedom.”

Jazz Night begins at 8:00 p.m. with hearty appetizers and desserts presented by Havana Catering and refreshments presented by River Horse Brewing Company and Sand Castle Winery. The concert takes place from 8:30 to 11:00 p.m. with one intermission. Museum galleries are open until 10:00 p.m.
