New York Seeks Developer for Harlem Jazz Museum

New York City is seeking a developer to build a new home for the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, the city’s Economic Development Corp, has issued a request for proposals for developers to bid on the project.

The 10,000-square-foot site is a city-owned lot across from the Apollo Theater. The space will also house the ImageNation Sol Cinema, an art-house movie theatre. The site was the former home of Mart 125, a market where vendors rented space. The market closed in 2001.

The developer will be responsible for demolishing the existing structure, and leasing the rest of the new building after its completion.
