Presentation: Vincent van Gogh and Naturalism
Van Gogh was a great admirer of the Naturalist artists. In his letters to Theo, he often mentioned the themes that they used, and the way they worked. Van Gogh also collected illustrations of these masters’ paintings. They formed an important source of inspiration for him, as can clearly be seen in the selection of early paintings and drawings that are exhibited in the presentation Vincent van Gogh and Naturalism.
