September Events at The Museum of Flight

Wells Fargo Free First Thursday
Thursday, Sept. 2, 5-9 p.m.
Once a month, the Museum stays open late-for free! Enjoy the Museum’s Great Gallery, Personal Courage Wing, Space: Exploring the New Frontier exhibit and more from 5-9 p.m., courtesy of Wells Fargo. Museum Store and Wings Café will also remain open for the extended hours on this night.

Spirit and Opportunity: Robots on Mars
Saturdays and Sundays
Sept. 4, 5, 11, 12
11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.
Spirit and Opportunity are two of the most famous and successful robotic rovers in the history of the United States space program. Learn about their missions to Mars. Then design your own Martian explorer!

Battle of Britain Remembrance Day Programs
Saturday, Sept. 18, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., North View Lounge
In remembrance of the 70th anniversary of history’s first major battle to be decided purely in the air-the Battle of Britain-The Museum of Flight presents a day of special presentations on Sept.18, with two additional programs on Sept. 19. Presenters include Museum of Flight aviation historians and experts on the history and aircraft of the Battle of Britain. General admission to all of the Sept. 18 Battle of Britain Remembrance Day programs is $10, ($5 for Museum members), and does not include admission to Museum galleries. Sept. 19 programs are free with admission to the Museum. Seating is limited on Sept. 18, early registration is encouraged.

Comets and asteroids are some of the oldest objects in our solar system. Learn about these unique objects and then make your own comet model!

Battle of Britain Remembrance Day Program
Sunday, Sept. 19
“Tip to Tail Tours” of Battle of Britain Aircraft
11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Personal Courage Wing World War II Collection
Museum docents give a personal tour of the types of aircraft flown in the Battle of Britain.
Amazing Skies Theater – The Battle of Britain: One Family’s Story
2 p.m., William M. Allen Theater
The Museum’s resident acting troupe, Amazing Skies Theater, presents the great air battle from the perspective of a family whose lives are forever changed by it.
 
Smithsonian Museum Day
Saturday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Museum Day is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian Media in which participating museums across the country open their doors for free to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket. As a Smithsonian affiliate, The Museum of Flight honors Museum Day tickets for free admission to the Museum on Sept. 25.

The Museum Day ticket provides free admission to one person, plus a guest.
· One ticket per household.
· A ticket will gain entry in only one museum and only participating museums.
· Only an official Museum Day ticket is eligible for free entry. Official tickets can be found on the Museum Day website.
