The Journey Museum’s Family Fun Day on Sunday, September 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. will be “Pannin’ for Gold.”
The event will feature the showing of a film about the history of the gold rush, and a gold panning activity, as well as a “hunt on the museum lawn, in which children find “gold” nuggets and trade them for goods at a museum “trading post.” There will be a drawing for the children’s book, “Panning for Gold,” by Paul Mason.
All children will receive a free take-home packet of info, puzzles and games about gold and gold panning. Refreshments will be on sale in the lobby. Admission to the Family Fun Day is $3 per person, plus tax or $1 per person, plus tax, with a Family Membership and this provides admission to the museum and the Children’s Library Lab, as well. Reservations for “Pannin’ for Gold” are strongly encouraged and can be made by calling 394-4103; the first 30 children to be pre-registered will receive a free sample of pyrite, which is also known as fool’s gold
