Target Free Thursday Nights in October Feature Student Open House, Talking Dance with Eiko & Koma, and the Films of Olivier Assayas

October’s Target Free Thursday Nights – the Walker Art Center’s free-admission evenings – are highlighted by Student Open House: Street Level, on October 14, from 5-9 pm, an evening featuring art-making activities, DJs from Radio K, a screening of Pablo Aravena’s film Next: A Primer on Urban Painting, and a discussion with artist Swoon about her obsession with making art for (and in) the streets. This year’s Student Open House marks the launch of free gallery admission for teens, during museum hours, thanks to the generous support of Wells Fargo. In addition, October Thursday evenings include two screenings of films by director Olivier Assayas presented in conjunction with the Regis Dialogue and Retrospective Olivier Assayas: Between Love and Terror: Eldorado/Preljocaj (October 21) and A Portrait of Hou Hsiao-Hsien (October 28). Walker artists-in-residence Eiko & Koma will participate in Talking Dance, a discussion about their career, retrospective project, and upcoming “living installation” Naked, with performing arts senior curator Philip Bither (October 28). Gallery admission is free from 5-9 pm every Thursday night.
