Black Country Living Museum Drops Anchor for Titanic Recreation

Almost 100 years after the Titanic sank off the coast of Newfoundland, a 16-tonne full-size working replica anchor, belonging to the world’s most famous shipwreck, will be exhibited at the Black Country Living Museum in land-locked Dudley, from Monday 4 October until 1 September 2011.

The replica, made to the specifications of the original anchor, was accompanied by 20 shire horses at a celebration and commemoration event on Sunday August 15, as part of a Channel 4 history series.

The anchor will stand along the museum’s main entrance and will launch the museum’s 2011 programme of events celebrating the Black Country’s connections with the Titanic.
