Donna Howard Joins Bishop Museum Staff

Bishop Museum announce the appointment of Donna Howard as its Vice President of Development. Howard recently accepted the position and will be leaving her Campaign Director post at the University of California-Berkeley School of Public Health.

President & CEO Timothy Johns said, “We have spent months searching for the right person for this position and we’re very happy that Donna Howard will be our new Vice President of Development. She brings a wealth of experience and leadership that will steer our development efforts in the right direction.”

In 2007, Howard was recognized as the Professional Fundraiser of the year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Honolulu.

During her two years at University of California-Berkeley, she was responsible for the School of Health’s $110 million capital campaign. Prior to UC-Berkeley, Howard was the Director of Development at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens on Kauai; she served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Kapiolani Health Foundation from 1999 to 2005; and President of the University of Hawai‘i Foundation from 1994 to 2000 where under her leadership its capital campaign tripled the amount raised from $8 to nearly $20 million.

Howard is the former Assistant Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences Advancement at the University of California-Irvine; the former Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Mills College; and former Vice President of Institutional Relations at Hawai‘i Loa College.

“I look forward to working for Bishop Museum whose mission I believe in greatly,” said Howard.

Howard holds a certificate from the Harvard Institute for Educational Management, a Master of Education, Education Psychology degree from University of Hawai‘i, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pennsylvania State University.
