In mid-2011 the National Museum of Australia will open Landmarks: People and Places across Australia (formerly known as Creating a Country), a major new permanent gallery.
Landmarks will trace a broad history of Australia since European colonisation of the continent in the late eighteenth century.
It explores 10 big themes in the country’s past through the stories of Australian places and their peoples. It asks how people have engaged with landscapes, flora, fauna, and technologies to build distinctive communities.
