On Saturday, February 12, the Illinois State Museum will present two free family programs. Celebrate Cultural Diversity! from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Music Around the World Super Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Museum will be filled with displays, hands-on activities, and crafts highlighting India, Italy, Georgia, Greece, Russia, the Underground Railroad, and more to Celebrate Cultural Diversity! Music Around the World Super Saturday will introduce children and families to instruments and music from many different cultures. Children will make instruments from recycled materials while listening to live and recorded music.
In addition to ongoing activities, there will be live performances throughout the day:
Noon – Interactive Brazilian Martial Arts demonstration presented by Capoeira Volta Ao Mundo
1:00 p.m. – “Fun with Fables” by storyteller Brian “Fox” Ellis
2:00 p.m. – “Dances of India” showcasing traditional Indian dances
3:00 p.m. – “Around the World in 60 Minutes” with Brian “Fox” Ellis touring the globe with songs and stories.
