Museum at Campbell River Presents Textile Art Exhibit

The Museum at Campbell River presents Textile Art Exhibit – Turning the Tide, one ripple at a time… On view February 8 – 20, 2011.

“Turning the tide, one ripple at a time” is an exhibit of 52 fabulous textile artworks that were created by 30 artists from the Comox Valley’s North Island Quilters for Community Awareness group.
The exhibits are art pieces with a direct social purpose and all were created to raise funds for the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. The Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign was launched by the Stephen Lewis Foundation to raise money to assist grandmothers in Africa who are caring for children orphaned by HIV and AIDS.

Twenty three different grandmother’s groups from Winnipeg to Vancouver Island have been working to promote and exhibit the textile art. This group of works will be on Vancouver Island until March 12, when they will be auctioned off at a gala event in Victoria, so don’t miss this opportunity to view them before they have found permanent homes.
