Science Museum of Western Virginia Welcomes Interim Executive Director

The Science Museum of Western Virginia announce the selection of an Interim Executive Director

On March 1, J. Andree Brooks joined the Museum staff and will guide the Museum through its transitional stage in the coming months. In this role, Brooks will work collaboratively with the Museum’s Board and staff, Center in the Square, and Reinvention partners to ensure the execution of the Museum’s short-term plans and set the stage for the reopening.

Brooks brings an extensive background in leading local nonprofit organizations including the American Lung Association of Virginia, the Julian Stanley Wise Foundation, the Western Virginia Workforce Development Board and the Roanoke Valley Speech and Hearing Center. “The Science Museum is a wonderful organization with a long history of serving the community,” said Brooks, “I’m extremely pleased to be a part of its history during this important time of transition.”

During its 40-year history, the Science Museum of Western Virginia has served millions of visitors, strengthening education and economic development throughout the region. Through hands-on exhibits, programs, and wide-screen films, the Museum nurtures lifelong learning and a greater understanding of science and technology among visitors of all ages.

The Science Museum of Western Virginia is now one of fewer than 5% of science and technology centers in the U.S. nationally accredited by the American Association of Museums.
